Default word 2007, there's a back slash on screen

It is not working because the file you are looking for is normal.dotm and
not normal.dot!
This is a normally hidden file.

i'm sorry, but the instructions you told me to follow seems that it's
not working on my end. i know you replied several times and for some
odd reason, it's not working for me. i typed in "normal.dot" and
nothing came up. i've clicked on "show all files", restared my
computer and still nothing, so i don't know whats wrong. sorry.

Then removing it from Normal.dotm is what you need to do. The
instructions at
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/...ocNotBlank.htm are quite
clear, and you've been provided the appropriate path for Normal.dotm
several times.

when i open a new docucment, there's a (\) on the screen where the
cursor is.
i always have to hit bacspace to delete it and then go on typing my
document. it's a pain.

Normal is the one you want (you evidently don't have file
extensions displayed). Are you sure you're not just seeing the
paragraph mark?

hello a. tawde,
thank you for your help. i've did all the steps. but when i
opened the
template folder, in it was "normal" and "normal email". i didn't
see "normal.dotm". i opened "normal" and there was no backslash
on the document
and the same with "normal email". i closed out both, opened a new
document
(on desktop) and the back slash was still there. do you have any
suggestions.

And if it is not a paragraph mark and you are still getting that
back slash
while opening new word documents, follow these steps and it
should work:

- StartRunType winword /safe (this will open word
in safe mode
without loading your Normal.dotm template)
- Click on Office button at upper leftclick on "Open"
- In Open box where you see "File Name" box type %appdata%
hit Enter
key
- you will see list of folders from where you will have to go to
Microsoft
folderTemplates folder
- There you will find "Normal.dotm", open it (If you are getting
any "~$Normal.dotm", ignore it
- After opening Normal.dotm, remove that BACK SLASH
- Hold down SHIFT key and click on office button and then click
on "Save
All"
- Close word completely and reopen it
- Back slash should not be there

Please reply..!

issue. i

word 2007 and some of the resolutions say, "if you have 2000
and/or earlier
or 2002. can you help. thank you much.

If it's on your screen, try a gentle cleaner and a soft cloth.

If it's in your blank Word document,
