The bouncing line is a sign that Word is having trouble with the
"widow/orphan control" feature. Select the paragraph at the page
break, go to Format Paragraph Line and Page Breaks, and uncheck
that option. It's meant to prevent the first two or last two lines of
a paragraph from being "orphaned" at the top or bottom of a page, but
sometimes it makes Word change its mind several times a second. I
don't know whether it has any effect on the hidden lines, but it's
worth a try.
