Default Authenticating a word document

Hi,

I was hoping someone could offer me some help.

I've been asked by a close friend if I could help him out. He has been sent a word 2007 document (.docx) from his soon to be ex wife containing a list of data and information about the assets they own etc.

My friend believes the information in the file has changed since it was originally written and I was wondering if some how it would be possible to check this?

I am a software developer and as I "know about computers" he's asked if I could help before it all gets really messy with solicitors etc.

We've right clicked the file gone to properties and looked at the details. It shows the Date Created and Date modified as being correct (a couple of years ago), then further down it shows Content created and date last saved as another date (This date seems to tie up with the day we copied the file on to his machine).

I've had a look to see if changes were tracked but they haven't been. I have read something about some ID's that word logs to tie changes up a part in the document. - Is there a way of checking where these ID's are - It's not too important to find what the changes in data are, more so what data has changed.

Has anyone got any help or suggestions?

Thanks
