Default can i lock a shape or text box in word

Hi mon,

Depending on the document's layout, you may be able to achieve what you need by simply moving the shapes & images into the page
header or footer.

Alternatively (or additionally) you can use Section breaks to delineate the 'protected' and 'unprotected' portions, then use forms
protection (Tools|Protect Document|Forms Sections) to lock only the 'protected' portions. Do note, though, that tis imposes a
number of editing restrictions on the 'unprotected' portions also.
