Default word can no longer 'hold' its settings

Occasionally the Word Data key in the Registry becomes damaged and "forgets"
Options settings. If it's Options you're speaking of, see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/MissingMenusEtc.htm for instructions on
rebuilding the key.

If it's Normal.dot changes that aren't being retained, this problem (and
often the Options one as well) can be caused by a poorly written add-in. An
especial thorn in the flesh is the add-in for Adobe Acrobat 7; if you have
that program installed, see the very last part of
http://www.gmayor.com/lose_that_adob...at_toolbar.htm
