Default Keyboard Shortcuts

Thank you Cindy,
The first answer works fine, Alt+X brings the right symbol. Unfortunately
with the second answer, I did not get very far. (Tools/Customize/Keyboard,
clicking in the new key box, then pressing Alt+l). I did not succeed in
inserting the Alt+l into the box.
Greetings

Hi ?B?SGFuZ28=?=,

In my correspondance, I use several languages that require special signs
(Polish, Spanish), available through pressing the right Alt key (or left
Ctrl+Alt). It works fine with the exception of Alt+l ("l" like in lion -
small case L). I presume, this must be reserved for some other command in
Word, but have not been able to find out which.
How do I get to type the Unicode on a Toshiba Satellite laptop? They are
given like "U + 0178", or similar- had no success with it.

try typing the number, then press Alt+X

You might be able to figure out to what Alt+l is assigned by going into
Tools/Customize/Keyboard, clicking in the new key box, then pressing Alt+l.
If it's assigned to a command in Word, that command should show up
underneath.
