Default text boundaries

I am using Word 2003. I am working with a book-fold, 16 page document. The
margins are the same on all pages (at least that is how they are set to be).
One page, however, shows a bottom text boundary much higher than the rest of
the pages. A paragraph at the bottom of the page keeps jumping to the next
page (and is not always visible). I do have a grouped object (consisting of a
WordArt, text box, and two graphics) at the top of the page. Ah, I just
ungrouped it and the bottom paragraph popped back into place. So, why did the
grouping mess up the text boundaries? Can text boundaries be "grabbed" and
changed like the sides of text boxes? (I tried and was unable to do so.) I
"solved" my immediate problem, but am curious as to the cause. Thanks!
