The macro (which should work in all versions) is necessary only for Paste
Special. As previously stated, you can select the default wrapping for
Insert and Paste on the Edit tab of Tools | Options. Unfortunately, Paste
Special defaults to Square or some other wrapping depending on the default
format for the Clipboard contents.

Harvey and Suzanne,
Thank you for the responses. I commonly paste graphics from Excel and
from
CAD programs as pictures to avoid problems with font resizing and CPU
freezup. From the article posted at
http://word.mvps.org/FAQS/DrwGrphcs/InlinePasteSpec.htm, it appears that
Word 2002 and above can be fooled with a macro. The article does not
mention
Word 2003 or 2007.
Do you know if pictures can pasted InLine using the paste special command
by
Word 2003 or 2007 or whether these newer versions will tolerate macro
workarounds?

Is there any way to make "inline with text" the default format for
inserting
pictures? Every time I insert a picture into a word document, I have
to
reformat the picture so that it doesn't float randomly about.
Reformating
takes 6 mouse clicks. On average I have to do this about 20 times
every
working day or about 4000 times per year or about 60,000 times or
360,000
mouse clicks in the last 15 years since MicroSoft downgraded this
feature.
It takes about 2 seconds each time which means that I have spent
33-1/3rd
hours doing this.
