Default page numbering

You have to unlink the first page header (or footer, depending on
where you put the page numbers) in the second section. To unlink,
choose View | Header and Footer, and click to de-activate the Same As
Previous button on the Header and Footer toolbar.

After you've unlinked headers (footers), you can delete the contents
of the first page header (footer) without affecting the others.

I have tried this, and I currently have three sections (title page,
TOC/Aknowledgements and Rest op document), the rest of the document

contains
page numbers in the standard format (i.e. 1,2,3), the second section

contains
page number in the i.ii,iii format but the title page displays a 0

which I
can't get rid of. If I delete it, the other sections also lose their

page
numbering...
Can anyone help me?

Complete instructions at

note that
your title page is page i even though no number is printed on it.

This is
publishing convention.

For the numbering you describe (done properly), you will need a

single
section break between the front matter and the rest. Select

"Different first
page" for Section 1 and leave the First Page Header/Footer blank.

Numbering
in the Header/Footer will begin at ii.

How do I format page numbers so that I have no page number on a

title
page,
the characters i, ii, iii on a table of contents, etc, and 1-50

starting at
the introduction of a paper to the end? Thank you
