1. Don't use the addressblock field. Use the individual address fields
formatted as you require them.
2. Tables use the normal paragraph style and in Word 2007 this has added
space, however labels created from the label tool on the mailings tab do not
display extra space by default (though in practice they sometimes do). Try
changing the style set to Word 2003, in which the normal style does not have
added space. See the relevant section of

I have a simple 100 line address database in Excel 2007 and want to merge
labels in Word 2007.
Problem #1: The fields are mapped and show in the preview mode. But if
there is no data in the first name field, the suffix field doesn't merge.
So
a record with: The (prefix) Jones (last name) Family (suffix) results in
"The
Jones". Suffix works if there is a first name: Mr. (prefix) Bob (first
name)
Jones (last name) & Family (suffix) results in "Mr. Bob Jones & Family".
Problem #2: By default Word 2007 adds extra space between lines on the
label which can crowd a 4 line overseas address off the label. Where do
I set the "paragraph" spacing for a sheet of labels.
