It is highly likely that they created the box using symbols instead of a
checkbox form field. If you turn on your Forms toolbar, View, Toolbars,
Forms. And you click the Shading icon. Do you see gray shading behind the
checkbox as well as other form fields? If so, you should also see a padlock
on the toolbar. Make sure that it is clicked on which will protect the form
and enable you to click on the checkbox to put an X in it.

If you don't see the shading, then you have a couple of choices. 1. Send
the form back to whoever created it and ask them to use form fields and
protect the form so you can tab from field to field to complete it. 2.
Replace the symbol of a box with a symbol of a box with a check in it. From
the Insert menu, select Symbol. Change your font to one of the Wingdings
fonts and you should be able to find an appropriate box to put on your form.

Good Luck

I have a form sent to me in Word that I have to put a "X" inside of a box
to
make a choice for different questions asked on this form. I cannot click
on
the box to put the "X" in. What is the secret?
