Default Spell check does not work in Word 2007?

As Patrick noted, we don't have one right now but as he suggests, make sure
you've ruled out everything that was suggested in this thread first.

Jimbo did email me his incident number info (thanks Jimbo - and sorry about
the email address!) and I've asked someone to look up the specifics for us.
Once we hear something we'll post the information in this thread.

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email can not be acknowledged.

Beth, can you give us a link or an idea on how to fix this? I'm having
the
same issue.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks so much for passing along the resolution - what you encountered is
indeed odd!

btw, did they happen to give you a support number? If so, would you mind
emailing it to me (I wouldn't post it in the newsgroup). I can ask
someone
from Microsoft to look it up and supply the exact steps they used to
correct
the issue. It would be nice to have for future reference. :-) To obtain a
valid email address, remove NoSpam4Me from: .

Thanks again!

Hi Everyone -

This is Jim just letting you know that the problem has been resolved. I
called the Microsoft Support line (I have 90 days of free assistance)
and
they used Regedit to reset the default values for the proof checker. I
certainly did not mess with them to begin with. When I installed the
software, I clicked on all the "recommend" settings. Don't know what
happened, but I am glad it is fixed. They used Easy Share to take
control
of
my computer and did all the work while I watched. Worked nicely.

Thanks again to everyone for your assisance.

Thanks, I will give them a call. Appreciated your help through this.

At this point, the only recommendation left is to contact Microsoft
Support. They might be able to help you diagnose the problem.

Thank you for the suggestion, Beth. I was able to run the
repair
option and
received the acknowledgment that Word 2007 had been
reconfigured.
However,
the problem still persists. I simply cannot successfully run
spell
check in
Word 2007 inspittteee of the mannny spellling errrors I put in
my
documents.
Nothing gets underlined and the spell checker completes without
identifying
any errors. I am baffled as to what to do.

news I did as you suggested. It completed its work and made one
correction, but
it wasn't the correction that would fix this problem. I even
double
checked
the language setting (Start, All Programs, Microsoft Office,
Microsoft
Office
Tools, Microsoft Office 2007 Language Settings) and verified
that it was
set
to English(US). I even rebooted. Did not work. Any other
suggestions.
(again, I appreciate your ideas).

I also tried it on Excel 2007 and the same story there.

Does it show any icon left of English (US) when you

As language it correctly says English (US) in
the
status bar?
Even when
you move the cursor on a misspelled word?
