Do you mean you are using autonumbering? Turn it off from the Home tab or
the Format menu - or apply an un-numbered style to the next line.You can
turn off automatic list numbering from the autoformat as you type options,
but then you will be more or less forced to use a numbered style for
creating a numbered list.
