Default Word changes alphanumeric characters to wingdings font, inside

Bob,
1. Text is part of graphic - embedded in graphic. Problem does NOT show in
Word doc, but DOES show in print preview, on printed page, and in converted
PDF doc.
2. Source graphic is a drawing exported from AutoCAD as metafile (.WMF).
Inserted as picture, in Word.
3. Only language is English.
4. Sorry, presently no way to post file online. Actually, it's a "sensitive"
file (DoD/USAF/etc).
5. Will post haiku in a later iteration.
Thanks!

Hi Zane,

So this is text that is part of the graphic, rather than something in the caption and the problem does not show up in Word or in
Print Preview?

What format is the source graphic and how are you inserting it into Word?

What languages are active in the document?

Do you have a blog/space/online file area/web page/etc. where you could put an example of the problem graphic and Word document?

By the way, several of the regulars here are Haiku fans, in case (from your signature) you have a favorite you might like to share
with them.

Using Word 2007, a compatability mode document has several figure-captioned
pictures. When printed, one picture has some, but not all, of its
alphanumeric characters (appearing in the picture) changed to wingding font
characters. Converted the Word file to a PDF file, and the wingdings showed
up in the picture in the PDF file, too. The font surrounding the picture is
Arial.
