Hi kburns

Make sure you have at least one empty paragraph after the existing list of
tables. Click in the document after the empty paragraph. Then create the
list of figures. If you're asked whether you want this to replace the
existing list of tables, then say no.

Alternatively, create the table of figures by hand. Make sure you've allowed
a blank paragraph after the existing list. Do ctrl-F9 and within the the
braces that word gives you, type so it looks like { TOC \h \z \c "Figure" }.
This assumes you have used the "Figure" caption on your list of figures.
Then click within the field, do F9 to update it and Shift-F9 to toggle
between the field results and the field codes.

Hope this helps.

I am trying to add a list of figures to a document that already has a toc
and
list of tables. Word insists on replacing the list of tables rather than
adding the list of figures. Why?
