Default cant get page numbers to show properly in the footer

Typing page numbers in the footer won't work, since that produces the
same number for all pages of the section you are in. Clicking the Page
Number button on the Header/Footer toolbar is the way to insert page
numbers in Word. If you are in fact inserting page numbers correctly,
and they still restart unexpectedly, you have to look at the restart
options for page numbering.

Page number options is a section property, so the first thing to do is
switch to Normal view, where you can easily see all section breaks in
the document. If some of those breaks are continuous (that is, the new
section starts within a page), you may have to insert a temporary page
break to see its headers and footers.

With all headers and footers visible, use the Show Next button on the
Header/Footer toolbar to move between sections. For each section,
click the Format Page Number button on the toolbar, and verify that
"Continue from previous section" is selected.
