Default Is there something like wordperfect "variables" in microsoft word?

In the File Properties dialog, on the Custom tab, you can define things
like that (you can ignore or delete the ones that are already there if you
don't need them). Then in the document body you use the Insert Field
dialog to create DocProperty fields using the names of the custom properties
you defined. When the fields are updated, they show the values you entered
in the Properties dialog.

Look in the Help for the topic "DocProperty field" for more information.

I use the Variables function in WordPerfect to quickly create a
series of documents that are identical in look and feel, where only a
few items need to be replaced in each document. I only have to change
the variables once, and the changes cascade all the way through the
document automatically. It's very easy to set up and use.
Is there something similar in microsoft word?
Thanks
