First, it is too late to worry about sending W2s now, because they had
to be postmarked by January 31.
Second, you must use the official IRS forms, which are designed to be
"machine readable" and are printed using special paper, special inks,
and within precise specifications. You cannot print your own. There is
an Acrobat (.pdf) version of a 2006 Form W2 available from the IRS
website at
http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw2_06.pdf , but read the
warning on the first page about not actually filing it with the IRS/SSA.
And third, the Microsoft website does not have a Word template for Form
W2. If you insist on your proposed course of action, you can probably
find something by asking Google.
