No, there's nothing on the computer that will affect the way the
printer moves the paper.
Some printers have a lever or other control that you can change,
although that usually only moves the print header closer or farther
from the platen.
If the printer is more than a couple of years old, the rubber rollers
that move the paper might be getting stiffer or not have enough
friction. Sometimes you can fix that by rubbing them with the eraser
tip of a pencil.
You should look at the printer's instruction manual. If you don't
still have it, you can probably download a copy from
www.hp.com.
