Function of I beam symbol
On most Netbooks and Laptops, one of the Function Keys is assigned to toggle
the touchpad on/off. Typically, you press the FUNC key +F7 or F8 (one should
be the Touchpad and the other the wireless).

An over sensitive touch pad was indeed the problem. I could not find
instructions on disabling, so I removed the driver. Thanks much.
