[Inserting upward arrows into text in Wor]

I am trying to insert an upward arrow into text and I see only options for
horizontal arrows, I don't want to insert a graphic. I am looking for an auto
insert upward arrow, like the -- automatically turns into a sideways arrow.
Any thoughts, I know I have done it before???
