Default eliminate highlights in template covering white font

Click the arrow on the Highlighting button on the Formatting toolbar (Word
97-2003) or on the Home tab (Word 2007) and choose the No Color option. Then
select the relevant text to remove highlighting.

I have a template where some of the information is highlighted in yellow and
I don't know how to eliminate the highlights in order to see the white font
beneath it.
