widow/orphan control
Widow/Orphan Control is ON by default in Word, so you should *not* have to
do anything to have it applied. When you "click the box" are you putting a
check *in* or clearing the check that was there? If clearing the existing
check you are turning the feature OFF.
Are you using a paragragraph style that includes W/O Control turned off?
What invisibles do you see if you turn on Show Hide ¶?
