Default word 2003 how to remove background/watermark text

In message , Pat Garard
writes
G'Day Chris,

The Watermark is a 'picture' object that is anchored in the Header.

Unless the Header(s) is/are marked 'Same as previous', you will
need to remove the Watermark from each section.

Place the Insertion point in the Section
ViewHeader and Footer
Click on the Watermark (to select it)
Press 'Delete'

Hi,

thanks for the help. In the end I had to go to each section open the
header/footer, then hide the main document text, then click on the
watermark and delete from each section.
