Default British Pound symbal

Or... if Alt+0163 isn't intuitive for you, you can assign a different
keyboard shortcut. In the Symbol dialog box, click on the pound symbol, then
click the Shortcut Key button. In the Customize Keyboard dialog, press the
desired shortcut, click Assign, then click Close.

I use Ctrl+-, L as the combination for inserting £, and I use Ctrl+-,E to
insert ‚¬.

You can insert an icon. Go to the Insert tab and, at the far right of the
ribbon, there should be an Insert Symbol button. Click it and you'll find
the British pound symbol under the Most Used, or Recently Used list.
Insert
that, and you'll notice that the window stays open so that you can insert
the
symbol again. Or you can use the keyboard shortcut, Alt + 0163. Good
luck!
