Text box displays but won't print.
Hi,
I am running MS Word 2000 on Windows 2000. I have a document, created from a blank document, in which the following odd behaviour is occurring. I created a figure in Excel, copied and pasted it as an enhanced metafile. The caption for the figure I put in a text box, just below the figure. Grouped the two items. The layout was then set to square with right adjustment. So it sits about half way down a page. There is a table above the figure and another, in-lined figure below the caption, and text to the left of it. It looks great on screen, and in print preview. But it will not print the contents of my caption text box (the figure does print). Drawing Objects is ticked to be included with document in Tools|Options|Print. If I copy the figure+text box object and paste it into a new document by itself it prints fine. Help!! This is startingto drive me nuts. I have tried printing to multiple printers and to PDF, and tried nudging the object around as much as I can without throwing everything else out of whack. Thanks in advance. |

To answer my own question, I have now gotten my document
to print. By: (1) creating a rectangle the same size as the figure+caption/text box object. (2) popping this behind the figure/caption and doing the layout formatting on it. (3) ungrouping the figure/caption and leaving the two objects (figure and textbox) sat on top of the rectangle. The layout settings of these two objects are now both "in front of text". |
