Letter Head problem....
I am currently working in an office where there are lots of letters that all
require the same letterhead. The problem is, people have left and phone numbers change etc and I am now in the position where I have to go into 20+ letters and edit them one by one. Is there any way to pull one letterhead into multiple word files? This way I can edit that one, and have the changes reflected in all of the various letters. |

Letter Head problem....
You can save the letterhead as an AutoText entry and insert it in each
template as an AutoText field. When required, update the AutoText entry. The drawback to this is that, if old letters are opened and fields updated, they'll get the current letterhead. To prevent this, lock or unlink the AutoText field upon creation of each letter. -- Suzanne S. Barnhill Microsoft MVP (Word) Words into Type Fairhope, Alabama USA "Matt" wrote in message ... Letter Head problem....
You cannot apply a new template to old letter documents and have it update
the fixed elements that they contain - Suzanne's suggestion will help for the future. For the present a function to search and replace across a batch of files may be more to the point eg http://www.gmayor.com/batch_replace.htm. I do however, wonder at the wisdom of changing file copies of old letters to reflect data that did not apply at the time they were mailed? -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Matt wrote: I am currently working in an office where there are lots of letters that all require the same letterhead. Letter Head problem....
I don't think Matt is intending to change file copies. I think the "letters"
he refers to are form letters used as templates. -- Suzanne S. Barnhill Microsoft MVP (Word) Words into Type Fairhope, Alabama USA "Graham Mayor" wrote in message ... Letter Head problem....
That is correct. These are letters that we use to send out to people, I just
wanted to find out how I could make it so that there could be on letter head used in all of them that would only have to be updated once. I will try your solution Suzanne and see how I go. Thanks!
