Default Global document formatting

Is there anyway to select multiple documents in Windows Explorer or within
Microsoft Word and do a "global" formating. For example, I want to mark
multiple documents with "draft" in the background and want to avoid having to
open up each individual document to do so. Another example. Entering page
numbers on multiple documents without having to open up each individual
document; or the same for fonts, margins, etc...???
