Default Why isn't the dictionary not working on word?

I have recently installed office 97 on my windows 98. Once when I was using
it I mis spelled a word and accidently asked it to 'add' the word. It went
onto a custom dictionary thing and now it doesn't spell check anything! Help!

For your initial problem, see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/EditCustomDic.htm.

If Word isn't marking misspelled words in your documents, go to Tools |
Options | Spelling & Grammar and make sure that "Check spelling as you type"
is checked and that "Hide spelling errors in this document" is NOT checked.

If the spelling checker isn't working at all, Ctrl+A to select the entire
document, then go to Tools | Language | Set Language and make sure that the
correct language is selected (as opposed to "(no proofing)").
