Page x of y with section breaks?
While creating a merged doc with an Excel data base, I am having trouble with
the results of page x of y. I get page 1 of 7 on all pages. I should be getting 1 of 7, 2 of 7 etc. I believe it has to do with the section breaks that are created by the merge. I am using Word 2000 (9.0.6926 SP-3) on a corporate network. |

A form letter merge creates a new document hat is a colection of individual
documents each broken by a section. Each section will be re-numbered so what you are seeing is correct.. What should be normally be used instead of {Page} of {NumPages} is {Page} of {SectionPages}. For a one page merge letter this will give you page 1 of 1 in each section. If you want the numbering to run through the document then the simplest method is to merge to a new document and add the numbering - {Page} of {NumPages}- to the new document, setting the header in the first page to continue from the previous section. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org jim c wrote: While creating a merged doc with an Excel data base, I am having trouble with the results of page x of y. Alternatively, you could set up your merge document as a catalogue instead of
a form letter. Make sure you throw in the "normal" page break at the end of the record.
