How do you format numbers within a document?
I want to be able to enter numbers in a word document, and be able to format
them as to commas; e.g. 10,256,312 instead of 10256312. I do not want to import excel or to use word tables. Any ideas? |

Word does not automatically format numbers except by using a field switch,
but for that the number has to be in a field http://www.gmayor.com/formatting_word_fields.htm -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org bobk2 wrote: I want to be able to enter numbers in a word document, and be able to format them as to commas; e.g. 10,256,312 instead of 10256312. Type the following: 10,256,312
IOW, in Word you need to type the format you want to see. You can only utilize a number format for certain Word fields and Word tables does not allow you to format numbers as you can in Excel. -- Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup.
