Default Can WORD be modified not to look for OUTLOOK's address book?

I use MSN as my internet default email program. However, I cannot use WORD
letters and mailing envelope address book option. I keep getting the warning
'set microdoft outlook as default mail client'.
Is there a way to use MSN as my email default and still have the ability to
use an address book in WORD to address my mail envelopes? Can WORD be
modified to accept another data base? My contacts are in OUTLOOK!
Thanks
Robert
