Default Automatic Date Insertion

I am a longtime user of Word, but a new user to Word 2007. For the first 3
days of using the program, the "insert current date feature" worked, then
quit one day, i.e., typing in the first 4 characters of the present Month,
and the current date automatically appears. The feature works while using
Tables and it words in Outlook.

According to everything I've read, this feature cannot be disabled -- yet it
is. Can anyone help?

Default Automatic Date Insertion

Since AutoComplete works in certain areas of text, the first thing to check
is if the correct language is applied.
