Default TOC format & Page # problems

I have inhereted a document where i've had to go in and create an outline
format to automatically generate a TOC. I have been able to get the TOC to
generate and populate the page numbers automatically but I can't get it to
"look" the way I want it to. is there a way to set tab indents for the
different levels on the outline so that the TOC shows up indented? the other
issue i'm having is that when i send it to my boss he only sees 1s on the
page numbering until he updates the page numbers. this will be reviewed by
multiple people so i need to find a fix to this issue. any help would be
greatly appreciated!!!

You can modify any of the TOC styles (see
http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/TOCTips.htm). And the page number problem
is probably caused by opening an attachment in Reading Layout view. Either
disable it (Tools | Options | General) or save the attachment before
opening.
