Default Compatibility Issue

Currently I emailed a file from work to my home computer. The file was save
as Word.doc. I currently have Windows XP and Microsoft Office Home and
Student 2007. I have saved the file to my drive, however, I am not able to
edit the file. Any suggestions

Are you getting an error message? If so, what does it say?

When you try to open the file from Word (press Ctrl+O), click the dropdown
arrow next to Open and choose Open and Repair. Does that work?

If not, try opening the file using WordPad. If that works, then save the
file in .rtf format, and then see if Word 2007 will open it.
