Default Word 2007: auto-text shortcuts: are they gone?

Hi Ritzput,

Basically, if you can remember the trigger text string to use for a specific building block/autotext entry you can use the F3 key at
that point to have the stored building block/autotext entry inserted in the document, but the 'hint'/tooltip feature is gone in Word
2007.

The "Microsoft Office Fluent User Interface" is basically the Ribbon (Word 2007).

In Word 2003 'Autotext' was presented in the User Interface as a single storage area, with entries classified by their Word style
names.

In Word 2007 the Autotext engine handles 36 built in galleries of reusable boilerplate content of which the 'AutoText' gallery is
only one. Together they're Microsoft Office Document Parts/Building blocks, managed by the Building block organizer
(Insert=Quick Parts=Building Block organizer)

The 'tooltip'/F3 feature (Autocomplete) you were referring to is turned off in Word 2007, in part because of the large number of
entries among all of the galleries, each of which would require a unique starting character string to trigger the tooltip.

Found following ant added "auto text" to quick link toolbar but now i don't
know how to edit and put in what i want? Don't undestand what below means?:
"Note The Ribbon is part of the Microsoft Office Fluent user interface."

The AutoText feature is incorporated as a gallery into the expanded
capabilities provided by the Quick Parts feature (Document Parts, Building
Blocks) in Microsoft Office Word 2007.

Tip You can add the AutoText command to the Quick Access Toolbar by doing
the following: Click the Microsoft Office Button , and then click Word
Options. Click Customize. Click Commands Not in the Ribbon in the Choose
commands from list, click AutoText, and then click Add.

Note The Ribbon is part of the Microsoft Office Fluent user interface.

Find links to more information about features that provide similar
functionality in the See Also section.
