Mailmerge numbers from Excel
I am trying to mail merge from excel to word to create invoices. The problem
involves the merge of numbers into a word document in letter format. The required numbers have now been entered onto the excell spreadsheet manually for a range of people, having initially been calculated by formula. The cells are formatted for number to two decimal places. However, on transfer to word, the numeric data is no longer discrete to two decimal places but is now running to several decimal places. A second subsidiary problem is that the numbers in word are not correctly alligned vertically to form a table. This makes reading the numbers in word a real pain and it looks really unprofessional. Anybody any ideas for solving these dilemas? -- Ray |

Mailmerge numbers from Excel
Press Alt+F9 to reveal the field codes and inside the closing } of the merge
field that you want formatted to two decimal places, insert the following formatting switch: \# ",0.00" For the alignment issue, use a table with the currency amounts in a separate column that is right aligned. -- Hope this helps. Mailmerge numbers from Excel
Hi Doug
This was most helpful and solved the problem. It appears that the difficulty lies within Word mailmerge rather than within Excel formulas. -- Ray "Doug Robbins - Word MVP" wrote: Press Alt+F9 to reveal the field codes and inside the closing } of the merge field that you want formatted to two decimal places, insert the following formatting switch: \# ",0.00" For the alignment issue, use a table with the currency amounts in a separate column that is right aligned. -- Hope this helps.
