Ah, yes, of course. I used Word 6 - with the Word 97 filters - for so long

If you've created/edited a file in Word 2000 and you do so using features not supported by an earlier version (eg cantered tables), the unsupported features may not be reproduced correctly when the file is viewed in the earlier version. This can be controlled by setting the later version to format the document in a way that is compatible with the earlier version (see under Tools|Options|Compatibility|"Recommended options for:").
