Default Pluripotent stem cell (PSCs)

Pluripotent stem cell (PSCs), which can form cells from all germ layers, but not extraembryonic structures such as the placenta, are pluripotent. ESCs are an example. ESCs are made from the preimplantation embryos' inner cells. Induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSCs), which are derived from the epiblast of embryos implanted, is another example

They are a continuum of pluripotency, beginning with fully pluripotent cells like ESCs or iPSCs, and ending with representatives with lower potency such as multi-, oligo, and unipotent. The teratoma formation test is one method to determine their activity and spectrum here. iPSCs can be artificially created from somatic cells and function in the same way as PSCs. They are highly promising for future regenerative medicine.
