Deleting a Table
In Word 2003, I want to delete a table. I've tried highlighting the table and
hitting delete, Table Delete Table, even Table Convert Table to Text. However, if I move my cursor right one "space" at a time, the table is still there (I can tell by the marks on the ruler). Since this document will be converted to Mac and to FrameMaker, this bogus table may show up. Not to mention the hassle of having to "tiptoe past a puddle." How do I permanently delete this bogus table? Is the document permanently ruined? |

Also, in most recent Word versions, selecting the entire table and pressing
Backspace will delete it. From your description of judging from the ruler, I would guess that you don't have table gridlines displayed. If you did, you might find an empty table row or more that you missed in selecting the table. If you are in Print Layout view, you can easily select the entire table by clicking on the table handle (top left corner). -- Suzanne S. 1. Select the table: With NUMLOCK turned off, hold the ALT key as you
press 5 on the numeric keypad. 2. On the Edit menu, click Cut. FWIW, I believe this was the only way to do it in Word 97. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Editor" wrote in message ... I could be wrong, but I think even in Word 97 if you selected the entire
table you could use Delete Rows on the shortcut menu. And of course there was also Table | Delete Table. -- Suzanne S. You could be right... g
I don't recall using anything but EditCut or CTRL+X in Word 97, though. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Suzanne S. Barnhill" wrote in message ... I just checked my old Word 97 and it does *not* have a TableDelete
Table menu item, but there is TableDelete Rows which of course you can use to delete an entire table, assuming that all the rows are selected. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Stefan Blom" wrote in message ... Ah, that may be what I used, though I probably accessed it from the shortcut
menu (as I do now). I rarely have occasion to delete an entire table except by using Undo (when I've created it specifically for the purpose of testing table commands to answer a NG question). -- Suzanne S.
