Default How can I link pictures with a path recognized on different comput

I have Word 2007 installed on multiple computers.
My master document file and its related linked images reside in the same
folder on our office network system drive O:\

I often take work home by copying these files onto my flash drive which is
read as differing letter drives on various take-home laptops.

When I open the document on the flash drive at home the linked picture do
not appear, because the drive letter is now different, even though the
pictures and the document do reside on the same folder on the flash drive.

How can I link the pictures to where the path is defaulted to point to the
same folder as the document, and not have to re-link every picture manually.
Thus I could see the same result I am seeing on my office computer, no
matter where I'm working from?

Unfortunately, Word is really, really bad at relative paths. You might test
whether setting a "hyperlink base" in the Properties (Summary tab) and
changing the base when you take the files home would make a difference.
Alternatively, you could use Find and Replace (with field codes displayed)
to search for INCLUDEPICTURE "O:\\ and change to INCLUDEPICTURE "E:\\ (or
whatever) as required and then reverse the process when you return to the
office. If you choose this method, you'll need to Alt+F9, Ctrl+A, F9 to
update the pictures after changing the path.
