Change icon when customizing Quick Access Toolbar commands
kaytee wrote:
When I add certain commands to the Quick Access Toolbar, they appear with a green circle -- how can I change the icon picture like I could in Word 2003 so each icon is a distinct picture? Unfortunately, you can't. Only the buttons for macros can be changed -- for all others, the Modify button in the Customize dialog is disabled. This was a mistake by Microsoft; they didn't have time to generate icons for all the built-in commands, and they were far too eager to prevent customization. However, this does present a possibility: Create a macro that invokes the built-in command, and add a button to the Quick Access Toolbar that calls the macro. The icon for that button can be chosen from the assortment in the Modify dialog. We can hope Microsoft will eventually supply a better set of icons for the built-ins, but I don't have any idea what priority that has. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org Email cannot be acknowledged; please post all follow-ups to the newsgroup so all may benefit. |
