Word/Outlook won't remember new Autotext entries
Had to reinstall Vista last month due to OS problems. Ever since, I'm unable
to add/delete/modify autotext entries. Specifically, I'm trying to replace my old autotext email signature with a new one. It works fine until I close Outlook (or Word). The next time I launch Outlook (or Word) my old autotext etnries reappear and my new ones are gone. Obviously I am using Word as me email editor. I know these are kept as part of normal.dot which when I find it within My profile/appdata/roaming/microsoft/templates the date modified always shows as 5/15 and is never updated to reflect my mods. I've even tried deleting it under the assumption that Word will create a new normal.dot but that does not happen. Any thought on why Word is not modifying or recreating normal.dot? |

An inability to save the normal template is usually related to the adverse
behaviour of an add-in - with the early Acrobat 7 add-in being a particular problem. If you have that one (which in any case I don't think is compatible with Vista) update it or uninstall it. Otherwise see http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm then http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/...artingWord.htm. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Seth wrote: Had to reinstall Vista last month due to OS problems. Thanks for the tip. While it's not Adobe causing the problem (I'm running
v8.1.2) it appears to be a Salesforce plugin. I removed it and it works now.
