Limit number of lines within a cell
Hi,
I've got a word file that acts as a form. It has a few tables and some of the cells can contain multiple lines in a cell. How can I setup the table so that - it doesn't expand when I enter a new line - it doesn't let a person to enter more lines than what can be displayed (so, no scroll bar) Any hint appreciated! Thanks, Goppi |

Limit number of lines within a cell
Set the row height to the *exact* amount that accommodates the lines and the
column width to fixed. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Goppi wrote: Hi, I've got a word file that acts as a form. Limit number of lines within a cell
But that doesn't prevent people from writting more lines than visible. Or did
I miss something? I got to a similiar result - table with exact row height and a field in it. Thanks Goppi "Graham Mayor" wrote: Set the row height to the *exact* amount that accommodates the lines and the column width to fixed. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Goppi wrote: Hi, I've got a word file that acts as a form. Limit number of lines within a cell
Yes it does allow more text to be entered, but it will not distort the
table. You can limit the number of characters that can be entered in a form field via the form field's properties. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Goppi wrote: But that doesn't prevent people from writting more lines than visible. Limit number of lines within a cell
Not perfect, but I can live with this.

Limit number of lines within a cell
In a Word 2002 form document I have a single table cell 2"x3", meant to be a
text box. I tried to limit the number of characters being entered as you suggested earlier. It doesn't work but keeps on taking additional characters beyond the bottom of the box. Could you tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance. Dan "Graham Mayor" wrote: Yes it does allow more text to be entered, but it will not distort the table. Limit number of lines within a cell
The number of characters that can be entered in a form field is limited by
the Maximum Length property of the form field. In any case if you use a table cell of fixed width and height, surplus text will 'disappear ' at the bottom of the cell which should give even the doziest user a clue that he/she cannot enter any more. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Dan H. wrote: In a Word 2002 form document I have a single table cell 2"x3", meant to be a text box.
