Default See gridlines while working

In 2003 I could hide the gridlines, but they would still be visible in gray
while I used the table, making it much easier to position everything
properly. Now with 2007, when it's on HIDE I can't see the gridlines at all,
and when it's on SHOW they print unless I put it back on HIDE. Is there a way
to see them like I could with the earlier version?

I wonder if you're confusing table gridlines and table borders. Borders
print, but gridlines don't. See
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/TblsFldsFms/Gridlines.htm for an explanation.

In Word 2007, table gridlines are controlled by the View Gridlines button on
the left end of the Table Tools Layout ribbon. The borders are controlled
by the Borders button on the Table Tools Design ribbon.

You're right, I'm not making myself clear enough. In Word 2003, if I had HIDE
GRIDLINES selected, and NONE selected in borders, I could still see a gray
outline of each table cell. In Word 2007, the same settings do not give me an
outline to see what I'm working with. If I turn on gridlines, I get exactly
that, gridlines. If I turn on borders, I can see the cells but the borders
will also print. Any solutions?

Never mind, I came across a similar question and solved my problem. Thank you
anyway!

You probably had "text boundaries" enabled.
