How do I convert a footnote from superscript to normal text

Usually, only the footnote number is superscript, and footnote text is
normal. If you want to make the footnote number normal too, modify the Footnote Reference style. Exactly how this is done depends on which version of Word you have, which you don't say, so you can look it up in Word help. GREGORY wrote: How do I convert a footnote from superscript to normal text |

I'm working in Word 2000. Firstly, thanks for the response. Your suggestion
only formats Indices, List of Tables, figures, etc. I want to use normal text when I insert the footnote reference number and still have the link to the footnote/endnote at the end of the section or document. Your reply bears no relation to the solution garfield-n-odie proposed, which
is to modify the Footnote/Endnote Reference style, which is the character style used for footnote/endnote reference marks. Go to Format | Style, make sure that All Styles is selected, scroll down to Footnote Reference or Endnote Reference, select it, click Modify, then Format, then Font, and clear the check box for Superscript. OK out. -- Suzanne S.
