Default Paste Special, Keep Source Formatting: source still changes

I add section breaks. I unselect "same as previous" on the header/footers. I
insert attachment (word file) by selecting "Paste Special, Keep Source
Formatting" and the style and formatting of the attachment sill gets changed.
The page break are wrong, the page numbers are missing, who knows what else
changed. I can't even figure out how to reformat the attachment in my
document to its original format. I look at the "style and formatting" used on
the original attachment verses the pasted attachment using the compare window
with the same text selected, and I have no idea how the format/style used on
the text from the original attachment was created.
