Default Word 2002 inserts colored background but shows white in artwork

Recently upgraded from Word 2000 on Windows 98 to Word 2002 on Windows XP. I
have letterhead with artwork clipped from self-developed .tif files in the
header and footer fields. In Word 2000 the artwork displays with a
white/clear background and prints the same way. In Word 2002 the artwork
displays with a white/clear background but prints with a colored/shaded
background. The Printer being used is a HP LJ2100 networked with a HP
Jetdirect 300X. Word 2002 does not print this way on HP Deskjet 932C. Word
2000 in Windows XP prints correctly on either printer. Would like Word 2002
to print correctly on HP LJ2100. The only thing changed is the version of
Word.
