Default No PID in the about section of Office 2007

I just got a laptop for Christmas. I use word all the time and just assumed
that it came with the OS. I have looked up the PID, but it's not there. Do I
have to actually buy the program?

No version of Word or Office comes with any OS. What you probably got was
the Office 2007 trial version, which is good (I think) for 90 days, after
which you will have to purchase it.

I strongly recommend that you not purchase a license online but instead
purchase a full retail version (with the CDs) from an online or
bricks-and-mortar store. This means that you should not wait till the last
minute, when purchasing a product key online may be your only option; when
you buy it that way, you don't get any CDs (there's an option to get media,
but it costs extra, so that you end up paying *more* than you would in a
store), which can cause problems if you ever have to restore the app.
