Default Document prints with white space at top and bottom

Hi, using Word 2003, I'm having a problem with my printer not wanting to
print the background of the cover of my document to the edges of the page.
I'm hoping to have it printed elsewhere.. But meantime...

I tried printing the document to PDF, using PDF Creator, and the white
spaces show up there. Is there any way around this?

Thanks,
Karen

You can print "full bleed" only if your printer supports it. Some printers
are capable of printing "borderless" (though sometimes only on smaller paper
sizes, using a special carrier, and always only by choosing a setting in the
printer Properties), but most have an irreducible minimum nonprintable area
required for paper handling.

The alternative is to print on oversized paper and trim, which is what
commercial printers do.

If you want the background to the edge of the paper, the currently active
printer driver must be capable of that. PDF drivers are usually capable -
Acrobat and PrimoPDF certainly are - so set the active printer to the PDF
driver and zero the margins before creating the PDF.
